2004
American Supper Evening. This meeting is traditionally attended by many members and their partners and is an informal chat among ourselves whilst munching away at whatever has been brought along. Bring yourself, a partner if you wish and enough food to feed yourself. This food will be added to the table and everyone helps themselves to anything and everything...... a fun evening to round of the year.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
The club's Annual General Meeting - I believe this year has the positions of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Publicity Officer due for renewal. Could you fill one of these positions? Even if not please come along to this meeting to help decide the direction of the club for the next year.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
The topic of this talk is "Fish Photography" given to us by Dick Mills. Dick has given us many talks over the years and the latest one I saw involved a lot of excellent fish photographs - he obviously knows this topic as well as his fish!
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
Don Kenwood gives us his talk on livebearers, postponed from January. Don is a fanatical fish keeper who has dedicated his entire fish house to keeping and breeding live-bearing fish, many of which he has collected himself.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
Malcolm Goss is going to educate us all in the topic of "Aquarium Plants". If like me you suffer from a lack of knowledge of anything green in the tank, then this is a real must to attend! This talk is the one that was postponed from our July meeting.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
Just to let you all know that there is a change in this month's speaker. Unfortunately Malcolm Goss has just informed us that he will not be able to make the trip down to Bristol this Thursday.
As a result the meeting this week will be a members evening and Malcolm Goss will be giving us his talk at the August meeting.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
This event is always a fun day out for fish enthusiasts with the opportunity to see fish of a high standard as well as fish that are not very often seen in fish shops etc. Add to this the auction (bring along any equipment, fish, plants etc that you wish to sell) and the chance of picking up a prize at the raffle and you have all the ingredients for a informative and interesting day out. Now all that is needed is YOU - it would be a fairly boring day out if we didn't have lots of other people to talk "fishy talk".
Venue: Alexandra Park Centre, Alexandra Park, Fishponds, Bristol
Time: Exhibitors can bench their fish from 9.30am until 12pm, auction begins at 1pm, fish are open to viewing by the public 3pm until 4pm
Arthur Frisby, with Do water, rocks and fish mix - learn more (I must admit even the title of this talk has me intrigued). Please bring 1/2 a Jar your own aquaria water as this is an interactive program with Yorkshire's Mr Water.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
Brian Walsh speaking on a topic of great interest to myself - catfish. This man is often spoken highly of in our club and is renowned for taking a rod and line along to catch catfish whilst on his worldwide fish collecting excursions.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
Members Evening - perfect opportunity to bring along a few fish to question us all about.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
John Egan gives us a talk on Barbs and Rasboras, this is a topic which hasn't been covered in a while and should hold a great deal of interest for us all.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
Chris Cheswright talking on the topic of South American Killie fish - this should complement our talk recently on breeding Killie fish
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
Unfortunately, due to illness, Don Kenwood was unable to give us his talk on Livebearers and this talk has been rescheduled for later in the year. In its place we had a visit from Barry Jones who gave us lots of information on the awarding of points for show fish - this was very informative for those of us still mystified by the process of deciding which fish is better that another at a show.
Venue: BAWA club, Filton, Bristol, UK
Time: 8pm start to 10pm approx
