Fish retailers -The best in the west.

Until we have lots of postings a day there will be just this forum for discussing anything and everything.

Just paid my first visit to Tropical Life in St George and was amazed! For such a small shopfront they had an amazing array and were massively cheaper than anywhere else I'd seen, £3 JD's among the best offers I saw. I also popped into The Fish Tank in Whitehall Road, just round the corner, and found that he had a pair of FEMALE red eyed puffers  Needless to say I ripped his arm off for one!
:D Sy

I told you 'Tropical Life' were good :) they don't look like much from outside but inside is a whole different matter.

Not so keen on 'The Fish Tank' but that's my personal opinion, glad you found something there you liked

Only problem is they never seem to be open whenever I go. Went out there today at about half ten and the place was shut!!

I have updated the link on our main page with [url=http://www.bristoltropicalfishclub.org.uk/advertisers/ad_index.htm]this years sponsors so please have a look and try to use these places for some of your shopping. Also please tell the shop owner how you found out about them - they won't advertise with us if they don't think they are getting money back.

Now apart from that there is my own company on the list so how is that for a bit of a plug - I wanna hear loads of people saying "We got your number from the Bristol Tropical Fish Club" when you order all those printer inks / laptops etc

No fair!! Tropical Life has now closed down! I went up there last week and he was running down the stock and I managed to get the fishies at half price!
Another one bites the dust :(

Noooo, I was in there only a couple of weeks ago and he didn't say anything about closing down. Has he shut yet or do I have a chance to get out there before he finally closes

When I went in he'd pretty much sold off all the fishies so I grabbed as many as I thought I could accomodate and got a 50% discount. He said he'd had enough of it all so was closing when he'd done the lot. I'm gonna assume he's all done by now, when I left he had colds and some "difficult" ones left. I guess he'll be Ebaying the dry goods off to shift them all.
A very sad story, he was one of the best.

They've now changed hands again after a really rough woman bought the business but clearly had no idea what she was getting into and the new people were stocking from a freshly boxed delivery when I went back in there on Friday. Of the new stuff I saw were Firemouths, baby Synos, Convicts and some others that I just glanced at. Hopefully this lot will keep things going properly and get some decent stuff in.

I wee bit further south than the rest but ho hum

Aquator (Hele Road, Hele, Torquay, Devon)

Very good, has a large marine section as well as the usual tropical and coldwater - as well as reptiles and hedgehogs

Something Fishy (Queen Street, Newton Abbot)

Another very good LFS - not so much marine - but a lot of freshwater

Maidenhead Aquatics @ Jacks patch (Teignmouth)

Recently revamped and I believe more of this to come - no marines at this bracnch but coldwater and tropical specialists - always a good selection of fish etc here

Pets at ho... - uuumm on the other hand :D ...
